Lots of FIN_WAIT2 connections

  • I've noticed recently that we often seem to have about 40/50 connections in a state if FIN_WAIT2, examples below ;

    tcp 0 0 66.199.xx.xx:80 193.124.3.125:3052 FIN_WAIT2 keepalive (818.96/0/0)
    tcp 0 0 66.199.xx.xx:80 60.213.68.238:17513 FIN_WAIT2 keepalive (728.34/0/0)
    tcp 0 0 66.199.xx.xx:80 217.172.29.3:3926 FIN_WAIT2 keepalive (782.19/0/0)
    tcp 0 0 66.199.xx.xx:80 66.177.139.171:3232 FIN_WAIT2 keepalive (1152.87/0/0)
    tcp 0 0 66.199.xx.xx:80 217.21.209.11:2819 FIN_WAIT2 keepalive (387.99/0/0)

    Any idea as to what causes these, and what some of these numbers mean (at the end of each line).

    maybe this helps?
