  • In which continent is the Sinai Peninsula? Mongolia


  • The researcher's answer is incorrect. The Sinai Peninsula is located in South East ASIA. This can be proved by looking at the Encyclopedia Britannica reference that the researcher cited. It states "The Arab Republic of Egypt occupies the northeastern corner of the African continents AND the Sinai Peninsula." If you analyse that sentence correctly, it means that the Sinai Peninsula is outside Africa. (^_^)


  • Dear Tutuzdad I must admit I am even more confused than ever. Perhaps what would easily answer my question would be a map of the general area of the Sinai Penisula with the boundary between ASIA and AFRICA clearly marked. I am also assuming this is NOT the same boundary as that between Israel and Africa. Regards Mongolia


  • Dear mongolia-ga; As you can see, occasionally, for whatever reason, non-researching visitors sometimes disagree with the research presented even though they have not researched the issue themselves. I not only stand by my research, I can easily back it up. As you can clearly see on this additional map, Egypt is entirely upon the African continent. Just to the right of the main body of the country of Egypt, you will see the Sinai Peninsula. It too, is located on the African continent, except for the portion that forms a junction with the easternmost mainland, which happens to be on the Asian continent.   • Because of the volitility of the region and the ever changing political dynamics, it appears that this boundary tends to be interpreted differently from week to week or month to month (this is my assumption). Howeever, I am not going to speculate as to the actual, OFFICIAL boundary. I have emails out seeking the information and hopefully I will be able to get a solid answer according to what the "majority of the academic world" considers the official bondary as a general rule.
